Airtel expands 3G network in Punjab and Bengaluru

Telecom network operator Bharti Airtel today announced the expansion of its Platinum 3G services in Punjab and Bengaluru.

The expansion of 3G in Punjab and Bengaluru is part of Project Leap, Airtel’s network transformation initiative. Airtel aims to invest Rs 60,000 in three years.

Airtel Platinum 3G — on the 900MHz spectrum band in Punjab — offers better mobile experience to customers through faster mobile data speeds, significantly enhanced indoor data coverage and better voice clarity.

Bharti Airtel said its Platinum 3G is available in all 149 census towns across Punjab circle. With the combination of Airtel 4G and Platinum 3G, the company has the largest and widest high speed internet network deployment in the state.

Manu Sood, hub CEO – Upper North, Bharti Airtel, said: “With Platinum 3G and 4G Airtel has the largest and widest mobile broadband network deployment in the state and our customers can now enjoy superior data speeds, significantly enhanced indoor data coverage and better voice clarity across the state.”

Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel announced the launch of its Platinum 3G network on the dual spectrum band of the 900 Mhz along with 2100 Mhz in Bengaluru.

C Surendran, CEO – Karnataka, Bharti Airtel, said: “The launch of Platinum 3G is an integral part of this commitment and will deliver enhanced voice as well as data connectivity for customers on 3G as we continue to roll out 4G services in the state.”

Airtel presently has covered almost all towns with 3G services and 4G services are available for customers in 120 towns in the state.
