Idea Cellular offers free data for one year on select plans

Idea Cellular Kerala
Telecom operator Idea Cellular on Wednesday announced free data worth up to Rs 9,000 for 12 months on a new 4G handset and select plans.

The offer is available to both existing and new pre-paid and post-paid customers across the country.

Bharti Airtel earlier announced a similar plan to counter free offer from Reliance Jio. The Mukesh Ambani-promoted Reliance Jio is offering free voice and data offers till March 31, 2017 from the earlier planned December 31, 2016.

While all Idea customers will now get free data bundled in the plans, customers with 4G handsets will get more data benefits on the new plans.

Idea Cellular said it is offering 1 GB of free data on the Rs 348 recharge pack, in addition to unlimited voice calling and SMS to existing prepaid 4G handset customers. Idea will offer an additional 3 GB data to users who recharge with this pack on a new 4G handset. Mobile subscribers can use the package for 28 days and can make 13 recharges in 365 days.

Idea Cellular’s Rs 499 plan offers unlimited local, national and incoming roaming calls with 3 GB of free data on 4G handset. Idea is providing unlimited calling and 1 GB of free data to non-4G handset users in India.

Idea Cellular’s Rs 999 plan offers unlimited local, national and roaming calls with 8 GB of free data for 4G handset users and 5 GB of data on to other handset users. Idea Cellular will also provide free subscription to its music and movies pack on these plans.

Idea Cellular said it will provide additional 3 GB of data on these rental plans to post-paid customers, till 31 December 2017 for all new and existing customers upgrading to 4G handsets.

The extra 3 GB of free data for new 4G handset customers will make it 6 GB and 11 GB free data each month, on 499 and 999 Ultimate Plans, respectively.

To get additional 3 GB data offer, new 4G handset customers can visit 4G handset section on My Idea App or visit http://i4all.ideacellular.com/offers using the new 4G handset and Idea mobile Internet (not Wi-Fi) and follow the instructions.

The company clarified that the availability of free data under the new plan will be 3G / 4G, depending on the telecom circle and mobile handset. The telecom operator will be offering 2G data in the current 3G ICR circles till it launches 4G services later this year.
