Airtel 4G beats Reliance Jio during drive tests: TRAI

airtel-4g-in-rural-indiaTRAI has released report on independent drive tests conducted in four cities such as Indore, Bhubaneswar, Nagpur and Mysore during October-December 2017.

The TRAI report shows that Airtel is offering better download and upload speed to its 4G customers during drive tests than Reliance Jio in several cities. Reliance Jio is the largest 4G operator with 168 million subscribers.

In Indore city, Airtel achieved download speed of 8.7 Mbps against Idea Cellular’s 8.3 Mbps and Reliance Jio’s 7.1 Mbps.

Airtel achieved upload speed of 7.8 Mbps in Indore city against Idea Cellular’s 8.2 Mbps and Reliance Jio’s 1.3 Mbps. Idea Cellular tops the 4G driving test in terms of upload speed in Indore.

In Nagpur city, Airtel achieved download speed of 9.6 Mbps against Idea Cellular’s 6.1 Mbps, Reliance Jio’s 2.2 Mbps and Vodafone India’s 6.8 Mbps.

Airtel achieved upload speed of 3.8 Mbps in Nagpur city against Idea Cellular’s 7.9 Mbps, Reliance Jio’s 3.3 Mbps and Vodafone India’s 5.3 Mbps. Here also, Idea Cellular has a better upload speed.

In Mysore city, Airtel achieved download speed of 5.1 Mbps against Idea Cellular’s 3.9 Mbps, Reliance Jio’s 7.4 Mbps and Vodafone India’s 6.7 Mbps. Reliance Jio has the better download speed in Mysore.

Airtel achieved upload speed of 3.4 Mbps in Mysore city against Idea Cellular’s 4.8 Mbps, Reliance Jio’s 2.6 Mbps and Vodafone India’s 5.4 Mbps. Vodafone India has the better 4G upload speed in Mysore.

In Bhubaneshwar city, Airtel achieved download speed of 9.1 Mbps against Idea Cellular’s 6.7 Mbps, Reliance Jio’s 4.7 Mbps and Vodafone India’s 6.9 Mbps.

Airtel achieved upload speed of 7.9 Mbps in Bhubaneshwar city against Idea Cellular’s 4.7 Mbps, Reliance Jio’s 2.9 Mbps and Vodafone India’s 6.2 Mbps.

During the test drive, download data transmission rate for downloading a test file from a test server to a test device was measured, while upload data transmission rate for uploading a test file from a test device to test server was measured.
