Bharti Airtel announced its partnership with e-commerce company Amazon to boost the 4G smartphone penetration in India.
The strategy of Airtel is to enhance the number of 4G subscribers on its all-India 4G network. Airtel’s mobile data network is the fastest in India, according to independent surveys.
The effective price of a 4G smartphone on the Amazon e-commerce portal will be INR 3,399 to Airtel customers.
Airtel’s new and existing mobile customers will get a total cash-back of INR 2,600 on over 65 4G smartphones from device brands including Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Honour, LG, Lenovo and Moto amongst others.
Airtel’s mobile customers will get INR 2,000 of the cash-back from Airtel over three years. In addition, they will get the additional cash-back of INR 600 on Airtel recharges of INR 169 on Amazon.in.
The marketing partnership between Airtel and Amazon, the second largest e-commerce company, will be able to taken on JioPhone 4G feature phones from Reliance Industries. JioPhone is the largest feature phone brand in India ahead of Samsung, according to research firm IDC.
“The partnership with Amazon India will give further momentum to our ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative which has received an extremely positive response from customers across the country,” Vani Venkatesh, chief marketing officer of Bharti Airtel, said.
Steps to claim INR 2,600
Mobile customers can buy the cost effective 4G smartphone by making full down payment from the Amazon India website. Customers can view the device list on offer https://www.amazon.in/airtelmps
Customers need to make Airtel recharges worth INR 3,500 within the first 18 months of the device purchase to claim a first refund installment of INR 500.
Customers need to make recharges of another INR 3,500 over the next 18 months to claim the second refund installment of INR 1,500 to avail a total cashback of INR 2,000 from Airtel.
Airtel customers will have to make 24 Airtel recharges of INR 169 via https://www.amazon.in/hfc/mobileRecharge to get the additional cashback of INR 600 from Amazon.
The INR 600 will be given as cash-backs of INR 25 onto customer’s Amazon Pay balance every month for a period of 24 months.
The INR 169 recharge will offer unlimited voice calls (STD + Local) and 1GB data per day for 28 days.
The ownership of the 4G smartphones bought under the offer is with the customer and there is no need to return the device to Airtel or Amazon India at any point to claim the cash benefit.
