The company, which is aiming to expand its service to at least 67 metros, targets to launch in 45 metros by the end of this year. It is already available in 29 metro areas.

With the launch, the broadband service will now be marketed to over 3 million locations, of which over 500,000 are apartments and condo units, with targets of 12.5 million locations planned by mid-2019.

The 11 additional metros planned to launch are Florida: Gainesville and Panama City, Georgia: Columbus, Kentucky: Central Kentucky, Louisiana: Lafayette, Mississippi: Biloxi Gulfport and Northeast Mississippi, North Carolina: Wilmington, Tennessee: Southeastern Tennessee and Knoxville, and Texas: Corpus Christi.

“We’re also introducing the AT&T Fiber umbrella brand, which lets us bring ultra-fast internet to even more residential and business customers through a mix of the latest network technologies,” said David Christopher, chief marketing officer of AT&T Entertainment Group.

AT&T had launched its complete fiber network in metro area of Austin, Texas, three years before.

After this, expansion plans were revealed in 2014 to deliver the service to 25 major metros, with an additional plan in 2015 announcing extended availability to at least 56 total metros.

AT&T currently connects over 1 million incremental business customer locations to its fiber network, right from 2012.

The telecoms claims 20x faster internet speeds than the average cable customer, enabling download of 25 songs in 1 second or a 90-minute HD movie in less than 34 seconds, facilitating access to latest online movies, music, games, photos, videos, cloud, virtual reality etc.

AT&T Fiber has launched the AT&T Fiber umbrella brand under which a variety of network technologies will be deployed to connect networks at ultra-fast and low-latency internet speeds.

AT&T also promised additional network technologies and products in the AT&T Fiber umbrella brand in the near future.

AT&T Fiber offers AT&T Internet 1000 over an ultra-fast internet connection, claiming to ease telecommuting, video-conferencing, sending and receiving large files quickly, high-def video streaming and more.

AT&T has invested over $140 billion in its network from 2011 to 2015, building one million route miles of fiber globally and deploying ultra-high-speed fiber-fed giga-power broadband services, reaching over 100 cities, revealed the company recently.

The company has an estimated overall $22 billion capital investment for 2016, with plans for the integration of over 6,000 kilometers of fiber in Mexico to move its wireless operations into the wireline network and develop assets through the addition of global network nodes.

AT&T recently announced plans to use power lines to deliver internet access, in a venture titled Project AirGig.
