TIM offers 1,000 Mbps broadband in 70 municipalities in Italy

TIM ItalyTelecom giant TIM has launched broadband connection speed of up to 1,000 Mbps in 70 municipalities in Italy and on the 4.5G network.

The strategy of TIM is to make investment and upgrade Internet technology for enhancing its broadband network coverage in Italy. TIM claims that its ultra-broadband coverage currently reaches 67 percent of homes with fibre and over 97 percent of the population with the 4G mobile network.

TIM said it utilizes fixed and 4.5G mobile technology together to ensure peak speed of up to 1,000 Mbps FTTH (Fiber To The Home) connectivity to its broadband customers in Italy.

TIM provides broadband connections of up to 1,000 Mbps in download and 100 Mbps in upload, in 70 municipalities already covered by the FTTH service, and up to 700 Mbps in 11 cities, thanks to 4.5G technology.

TIM said all new customers can sign up for this new Fibre and Mobile offer and request Internet connections from 100 to 1,000 Mbps and the Mobile Special option with 1 Giga of traffic up to 4.5G at 19.90 euros / 4 weeks for 1 year (thereafter 34.90 euros for a further 3 years).

TIM announced investments of around 11 billion euros in Italy including 5 billion euros to network innovation during 2017-2019.

TIM has provided fibre coverage for over 16 million homes in around 1,900 municipalities. Out of this, 1,300 homes get 200 Mbps speed, and 70 Mbps with FTTH.

TIM will offer speeds of up to 700 Mbps in download in the cities of Turin, Milan, Naples, Rome and Palermo, Taormina and Giardini-Naxos for all customers with supporting devices.
