Avaya provides Veteran Affairs with UC solution for D.C. Medical Center

Telecom Lead America: Washington, D.C based Veterans
Affairs Medical Center, has selected Avaya Government Solutions and its channel
partner Standard Communications for a new unified communications (UC)
infrastructure.

Under the contract, the Center will replace its maturing
communications network with a new Avaya Aura platform.

 

Avaya Connect Channel Partner Standard Communications
will install the Avaya solution and provide the Center with ongoing support.
Installation is expected to be completed by year-end.

 

The Avaya Aura platform will deliver advanced UC
capabilities to the center’s staff and enhance approximately 7,000
communications end points, including Internet protocol (IP) phones and other
mobile devices.

Solutions, said that Avaya Aura allow the company to help medical personnel and
administrators at the VA’s D.C. Medical Center communicate more efficiently,
reduce the cost of care and use mobility capabilities to become more
responsive.

 

The center is a major teaching hospital with a respected
research program and a staff of 1,700.

 

John Moliere, President, Standard Communications, said
that Standard provides its level-best support to more than 220 VA facilities
every day. And, by combining with the Avaya Government Solutions team, the
center will be able to provide this state-of-the-art solution to the
professionals of the VA and to the veterans they serve in and near our Nation’s
Capital.

 

Avaya Government Solutions is also providing the Avaya
Flare Communicator for iPad tablet devices that will enable physicians and
administrators to stay in touch easily and to communicate using their iPad.

 

The Avaya Flare application provides convenient access to
a variety of real-time, integrated communications and collaboration tools,
including voice calls, multi-party conferencing, email, presence and enterprise
instant messaging.

 

Avaya launches new multi-modal conferencing solution

 

Recently, Avaya has launched Aura Conferencing 7.0 that
enables session-based, unified voice and web collaboration from anywhere using
desktop Macs or PCs, tablets, and smartphones.
