HP appoints Gregg Melinson vice president of global government affairs

HP announced it has appointed Gregg Melinson vice
president, Global Government Affairs, and deputy general counsel, effective
Sept. 19.

Melinson will be based in HP’s Palo Alto headquarters,
reporting to Michael Holston, executive vice president and general counsel for
HP.

Gregg is an excellent leader with deep government
affairs expertise, strong business acumen and a proven track record of building
successful teams. His deep understanding of the complex issues companies
encounter at the intersection of business and government will strengthen our
ability to provide value across all of HP’s businesses,” said Holston.

For much of the last 20 years, Melinson has been a
partner at Drinker Biddle & Reath, most recently serving as chief marketing
partner, where he led all strategic client development activities and
significantly contributed to the overall growth of the firm.

Previously, he was chair of the Government Affairs
Practice Group, where he advised clients in matters involving the interplay
between business and government at all levels.

From 1995 to 1997, Melinson left Drinker Biddle to serve
as deputy general counsel to Gov. Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania. In that capacity,
Melinson represented Gov. Ridge and other administration officials in federal
and state court litigation, while also overseeing the work of several hundred
lawyers in the Governor’s Office of General Counsel.
