India wireless subscriber market share released by TRAI

India wireless subscriber base increased 0.36 percent to 973.35 million in April 2015 from 969.89 million in March 2015, said TRAI recently.

Bharti Airtel has 23.45 percent share in India wireless subscriber market, followed by Vodafone 18.96 percent, Idea Cellular 16.36 percent, Reliance Communications 11.28 percent, Aircel 8.43 percent, BSNL 7.99 percent, Tata Teleservices 6.43 percent, Uninor
4.81 percent, MTS India 0.91 percent, Videocon 0.75 percent and MTNL 0.36 percent.
Mobile service provider market share
The wireless subscription in urban areas increased 0.55 percent to 558.78 million in April 2015 from 555.71 million in March 2015. Wireless subscription in rural areas increased 0.09 percent to 414.57 million from 414.18 million.

The wireless tele-density in India increased to 77.46 in April 2015 from 77.27 in March 2015, said TRAI. The urban wireless tele-density increased from 143.08 to 143.64, and rural wireless tele-density slightly increased from 47.78 to 47.79 in April 15. The shares of urban and rural wireless subscribers were 57.41 percent and 42.59 percent respectively in April 2015.

Out of the total wireless subscriber base of 973.35 million, 869.93 million wireless subscribers were active in the month of April 2015. The proportion of active wireless subscribers was approximately 89.38 percent of the total wireless subscriber base, said TRAI.
