S.I. Net, Cambodia’s provider of high-speed
Internet, fiber and hosting services, has selected WideCast, a transparent
caching solution, from BTI Systems.

 

S.I. Net has joined leading carriers in the Asia
Pacific region in working with BTI Systems http://www.btisystems.com, a networking company that
creates high-capacity, application-aware service infrastructures for the metro,
to incorporate the latest technologies to offer advanced broadband services.

technology to deliver new, feature-rich content while we reduce our costs for
operations, administration and maintenance,” said Meta Sy, general manager
of S.I. Net.

 

WideCast is a multi-service caching solution that
allows S.I. Net to cache all types of content, including video,
software updates, peer-to-peer traffic and web-based file sharing. An
integrated caching and networking solution, WideCast combines BTI Systems
packet optical networking technology for traffic redirection with the
transparent caching server.

WideCast is currently caching an average of 35 percent of
IP traffic for S.I. Net and improving the quality of experience for
its customer by shortening the distance that content travels, thereby reducing
latency and improving throughput in excess of six times the average.

 

With its ability to redirect packet optical traffic at
Layer 2/Layer 4, the 7000 Series will allow S.I. Net to deliver
Ethernet-based services and expand its 10GbE metro network in the capital city
of Phnom Penh.

 

Recently, BTI Systems announced its partnership with DragonWave to create an integrated
solution to deliver cost-effective, scalable capacity across metro fiber
networks. BTI Systems and DragonWave will be
addressing the need for backhaul of mobile broadband data from the tower to the
switching center by combining the strengths of their respective packet optical
metro networking and high-capacity packet convergence solutions to advance
mobile backhaul transport.
