CIG Doubles Production Capacity in China to Meet GPON ONT Demand

Carrier Class Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) Optical Network Terminal (ONT) equipment vendor Cambridge Industries Group (CIG) announced that it expanded its manufacturing capacity.

The company also relocated its advanced manufacturing facility from the former 64,500 square foot location to a new state-of-the-art 120,000 square foot facility in Shanghai.

We have received very positive indications from current customers that shipments of GPON ONTs will continue to escalate as the telecommunications service providers continue to rollout their next generation fiber networks,” said Gerald Wong, chairman and CEO of CIG.

This new space will help accommodate anticipated demand and enable us to ramp up quickly to meet future requirements,” Wong added.

Since 2005, CIG has grown from a startup to become the industry leading supplier of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) customer premise equipment (CPE) to Tier 1 and Tier 2 telecom equipment providers, who, in turn, market these products to the telecom carriers.

CIG offers the most advanced ONTs in the industry, interoperable with practically every GPON OLT in the industry, and at the most competitive price points thanks to its in-house innovative technologies and manufacturing.

This expansion in manufacturing capacity will allow us to ramp from its current 30,000 units per week to having the ability to ship over 100,000 units per week.

In the past 3 years alone, its revenue has grown in excess of 300 percent and customer base now includes nearly all the major Optical Line Terminal (OLT) vendors worldwide.

The company has now over 500 employees, including more than 140 R&D engineers, reinforcing our commitment to remaining at the forefront of this technology.
