Amdocs inks deals with Telefonica and U.S. Cellular

Amdocs today announced deals with Telefonica and U.S. Cellular.

U.S. Cellular

U.S. Cellular, the fifth largest wireless carrier in the United States, has tapped Amdocs to manage the operations of its business and operational support systems (B/OSS). The five-year deal covers key B/OSS areas including service activation, customer care and retail interaction, as well as billing for both business and retail customers.

“This agreement with Amdocs is expected to provide us with improved operating efficiencies as well as enhanced system support capabilities that further enable our goal of delivering a superior customer experience,” said John Cregier, vice president of information technology at U.S. Cellular.

As part of the deal, Amdocs will provide 24/7 system support including tier 2 services and application support. Amdocs will manage U.S. Cellular’s billing operations for both pre- and postpaid customers, spanning 3G and 4G LTE networks in some 100 markets in North America.

Telefonica

Telefonica has selected Amdocs for a business support systems (BSS) transformation project in Brazil to provide a seamless, multi-channel experience for Vivo’s quad-play customers across wireline (including fiber), wireless (pre- and postpaid), Internet (including fiber) and TV (including IPTV).

“By modernizing and standardizing Telefonica’s BSS on an Amdocs platform, we can benefit from Amdocs’ business processes to accelerate Telefonica’s transformation in the Brazilian market,” said Christiane Edington, chief information officer of Telefonica Brazil.

The deal extends Telefonica’s strategy of differentiating itself by enabling all customer interactions online and ensuring a consistent experience across all channels, and follows similar transformation projects awarded to Amdocs for Telefonica Argentina, Chile and Peru.

Amdocs will consolidate Vivo’s third-party legacy systems onto a single Amdocs BSS platform and will provide system development and delivery, data migration, testing, business process and change management services under a five-year maintenance and support services contract following delivery.
