Ericsson has bagged a 5-year IT modernization deal from VIVA Dominicana to deploy Ericsson Revenue Management products.
The Sweden-based telecom equipment maker said that the solution includes Ericsson Charging System 16, Ericsson Multi Mediation, and all systems integration services and consultant services.
Elie Hanna, president – Ericsson Mexico, Central America and Caribbean, was instrumental in bagging the contract from VIVA Dominicana. Ericsson did not disclose the financial details.
The solution is part of Ericsson’s Digital Support Systems (DSS) portfolio and supports VIVA’s 4G 4X4 MIMO network modernization. LTE 4×4 MIMO enables enhanced mobile internet user experience and increases operator spectral efficiency by delivering up to twice the downlink data rate without the need for additional spectrum.
The modernization of VIVA’s IT environment is aimed at supporting monetization of voice and data services, including different options for the configuration of new wireless plans, as well as the path to mobile operator’s business evolution.
“Modernized IT solutions allow us to have a more agile operation, which is needed as we launch new 3G and LTE services. Ericsson’s complete solution showed us that they were the best partner for this transformation,” said Luis Bodega, CEO of VIVA Dominicana.
Ericsson claims that it is the leader in real-time charging, with more than 200 implementations managing more than 1.6 billion end users.
