Syniverse said it will supply IPX Network Solution and managed services to assist Saudi Telecom Company (STC) to launch LTE roaming.
STC aims to expand its roaming footprint, cut costs, find new revenue streams, and deliver services faster.
Walid Al-Wabel, general manager of STC’s Wholesale Operations Management, said: “Through a single connection to Syniverse’s IPX network, we are able to deliver LTE roaming while future-proofing our network to support technologies like VoLTE and to increase bandwidth as LTE volumes.”
The Syniverse IPX currently serves more than 1,000 LTE roaming routes with reach to more than 230 operators in 44 countries – including over 100 direct connections.
Syniverse has direct LTE connections with 14 of the 16 operators that have launched VoLTE, and Syniverse recently enabled the world’s first transoceanic VoLTE roaming call, as well as the first commercial VoLTE service.
STC will utilize Syniverse’s data and financial clearing, IOT Discount Management, Near Real-Time Roaming Data Exchange, Gain Management suite to facilitate international roaming agreement negotiations and to perform TADIG testing to expand the operator’s voice, data, CAMEL and LTE footprint.

The Saudi operations of Saudi Telecom Company generated over SAR 46 billion in revenues in 2014. STC’s network covers more than 99 percent of populated areas, with a mobile network capacity of 28 million lines, 8.4 million landlines, and broadband capacity of 3.75 million.
