Telefonica taps VPIsystems for transport network optimization

Telecom service provider Telefonica has selected VPIsystems’ OnePlan software as an important part of its transport network optimization program.

Telefonica, which has more than 340 million customers in key telecom markets, will benefit from the OSS transformation initiative to modernize networks and systems to accelerate the deployment of new technologies and to increase network coverage.

“Streamlined capacity planning is critical in realizing our strategy. The key to doing this successfully is to have a business partner who has experience in doing this at a large scale. VPIsystems’ agility and their ability to truly understand our requirements and challenges were key factors in our decision,” said Juan Manuel Caro Bernat, director of Operations & OSSs, Telefonica.

VPIsystems, a provider of predictive network analytics for network capacity planning, network optimization, and subscriber quality assurance, said VPIsystems software solutions will assist Telefonica to improve the efficiency of its network assets. VPIsystems’ solution will be rolled out in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Germany and Peru.

As per the Transport Optimization Program, Telefonica aims for reviewing and optimizing the entire lifecycle of its transport network, deploying new tools with new, standardized, streamlined processes, in order to achieve excellence in efficiency and deliver improved quality to customers all over its operations.

“Telecom operators need to know exactly where and when network congestion is occurring and they need a network forecast plan to alleviate it in the future as cost-effectively as possible,” said Tito Sharma, president and chief executive officer of VPIsystems.
