Micromax prices A110 Superfone Canvas 2 at Rs 9990 and A90S Superfone PIXEL at Rs 12990
Telecom Lead India: Micromax has priced A110 Superfone Canvas 2 at Rs 9990 and A90S Superfone PIXEL at Rs 12990.
These two products are aimed at the festival season in India.
Both Micromax A110 Canvas 2 and Micromax A90S Superfone PIXEL are available across all leading retail outlets in India.
Micromax is the third largest mobile phone vendor in India with 5.5 percent market share. Nokia is the leader with 22.2 percent market share and second leading player Samsung has 13 percent share based on shipments in the first half of 2012, according to CMR’s India Mobile Handsets Market Review for first half 2012.
During H1 2012 (January-June 2012), total India shipments of mobile handsets was recorded at 102.43 million units. During the same period, total India shipments of smartphones were 5.50 million units.
With these two smartphones, Micromax is trying to capture market share in smartphone category in India, currently dominated by Samsung, Nokia and Research In Motion.
CMR said the first half of CY 2012 was witness to the high-decibel launch of Samsung Galaxy S III, HTC One X et al. The second half of CY 2012 continues to see launch of a number of high value, aspirational smartphone models such as the Nokia Lumia 910, Samsung Galaxy Note II and the Apple iPhone 5. This push from vendors and the increasing maturity of the India mobile subscriber community is expected to further push up smartphones as a proportion of total mobile handset shipments in the country in the next few quarters.
