ZTE clinches over $100 million GSM-R contract with Russian Railways
Telecom Lead Europe: ZTE has signed a global system for mobile communications railway (GSM-R) contract with Russian Railways.
Recently, ZTE announced that its next generation SDR-based GSM-R products have passed European Integrated Railway Radio Enhanced Network (EIRENE) certification.
ZTE has conducted its GSM-R system trial in Ural, Russia, and has passed testing on Russian Railways.
The size of the contract is over $100 million to provide GSM-R, a wireless communications standard for railway communication and scheduling.
ZTE will offer total solutions including Scheduling System, Intelligent Network, Interception & Recording, Transmission, Power, and Terminals for railway lines from Saint Petersburg to Bulovskaya.
“ZTE is pleased to partner with Russian Railways,” said ZTE Vice President Yang Jun. “We are confident that our GSM-R will provide reliable communications and scheduling for more railways.”
At present, ZTE GSM-R field partnerships in China, Vietnam, Uzbekistan and Russia, providing complete solutions for safe railway system.
Recently, ZTE, the troubled Chinese equipment vendor, achieved the certificate from TUV Rheinland, a provider of independent inspection and certification service. The achievement indicates the maturity, stability and reliability of ZTE GSM-R products. ZTE’s GSM-R products are suitable for the European global railway communication market.
