Qualcomm expands LTE-A Carrier Aggregation presence

Qualcomm said Xiaomi, Motorola, ZTE, OPPO, Tianyu, LeTV, Vivo, Nubia, Smartisan Technology, Coolpad and Hisense are expected to launch new mobile devices featuring LTE-A Carrier Aggregation.

Qualcomm Technologies offers integrated X10, X8 and X5 LTE modems featuring support for LTE-A Carrier Aggregation across all tiers of Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. LTE-A Carrier Aggregation provides fast download speeds. With LTE-A Carrier Aggregation, devices can connect to advanced LTE networks with up to triple the wireless bandwidth.

LTE-A Carrier Aggregation support allows operators to maximize available spectrum and offer enhanced user experiences to consumers.

Tony Wei, senior director of Marketing, Xiaomi, said: “We will be among the first to offer Carrier Aggregation with the Snapdragon 810 processor with X10 LTE.”

Qualcomm Technologies offers LTE Advanced Carrier Aggregation in multiple configurations. The X10 LTE with 3x20MHz integrated LTE Advanced Carrier Aggregation supports download speeds up to 450 Mbps. The X10 LTE is featured in the Snapdragon 810 and 808 processors.

The Snapdragon 618 and 620 processors with X8 LTE features always-on connectivity, supporting 2x20MHz Carrier Aggregation for data speeds of up to 300 in Mbps the download and up to 100 Mbps in the upload.

Included in the Snapdragon 425 processor, the X8 LTE modem supports both downlink and uplink Carrier Aggregation doubling LTE download and upload speeds, a first in the 400 tier, bringing premium-tier quality performance to high volume mobile devices.
Found in the Snapdragon 210 processor, the X5 LTE modem features integrated 4G LTE providing speed and dependability for high-volume smartphones and tablets.
