MWC 2015

Keynote speakers

GSMA earlier this month confirmed the presence of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as the keynote speaker.  Zuckerberg will continue to pitch for cost effective Internet for all to promote Facebook for all.

You cannot miss Tom Wheeler, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), who just chaired the most controversial net neutrality guidelines for the American wireless market. Thanks to FCC under the aegis of Wheeler, NetFlix and other content companies will not face restricted broadband access or need to pay extra bucks for bigger pipes to carry their content to your homes.

India born Sundar Pichai, senior vice president, Android, Chrome & Apps at Google, will also be there.

Mobile World Congress will showcase the intersection of mobile and eSports with the addition of a live professional video game competition by eSports firm ESL. ESL will host a one-day competition on Wednesday, 4 March in the Theatre District, Hall 8 at Fira Gran Via and will broadcast it live over Twitch, allowing eSports fans around the world to join in.

Global Mobile Awards

GSMA already announced the nominees for the 2015 Global Mobile Awards, which are this year celebrating 20 years of achievement and innovation across the mobile industry.

Global Mobile Awards will honor more than 40 winners over nine categories that include awards for Best Mobile Handsets & Devices, Best Mobile Apps, Best Mobile Services, Best Mobile Technology and Social & Economic Development and will also feature many new awards that showcase emerging trends in the mobile ecosystem. These include awards for wearable technologies, affordable smartphones, the Internet of Things and sectors such as retail and automotive, amongst others.

GSMA Innovation City at Mobile World Congress will have an immersive showcase that builds on last year’s Connected City exhibition.
