China Unicom revenue up 8.4% thanks to 4G subscriber growth

China Unicom announced financial results for Q1 2018 showing 8.4 percent increase overall service revenue to RMB 66,609 million.

China Unicom achieved 11.6 percent increase in mobile service revenue to RMB 41,511 million, 3.4 percent increase in fixed-line service revenue to RMB 24,617 million and 36 percent increase in industrial Internet business revenue to RMB 5,876 million.
China Unicom for mobile usersEBITDA of China Unicom rose 14 percent to RMB 23,909 million, while profit was RMB 3,005 million, up 248.7 percent.

Mobile subscriber ARPU of China Unicom was RMB 47.9, up by 2.6 percent year-on-year.

China Unicom added 9.78 million mobile subscribers in Q1 2018, reaching a total of 294 million.

China Unicom’s 4G subscriber base rose by 19.33 million, reaching 194 million in the first quarter of 2918.

The telecom operator said it added 1.52 million fixed-line broadband subscribers to reach 78.06 million.

Fixed-line broadband ARPU decreased year-on-year. Fixed-line service revenue amounted to RMB 24,617 million, up by 3.4 percent.
