How Idea Cellular is cutting down power usage?

Telecoms Idea Cellular, which released its sustainability report, said it is cutting down its power consumption through several measures.

Himanshu Kapania, managing director of Idea Cellular, said the telecom service provider operates over 19 percent of owned telecom towers by hybrid power, reducing CO2 emissions by 52,000 tons per annum in 2016.

The Indian telecom operator said it reconfigured sites further reducing CO2 emissions by 62,000 tons, announcing the sustainability report called Calling Tomorrow 2016.

Idea Cellular said 90 percent of servers are virtualized across data centres, resulting in 1/3rd the power consumption.

One-third of young leaders in Idea Cellular are women.

Idea Cellular achieved 100 percent compliance on EMF norms

Idea Money operations expanded to 2 million customers in its goal towards digital financial empowerment.
