Mobile data fuels Airtel revenue to grow 3.6% in Q4 FY 2015

Indian telecom service provider Bharti Airtel said 59 percent increase in mobile data revenue fuelled its total revenue to increase 3.6 percent to Rs 23,016 crore in Q4 FY 2014-15.

Airtel said its India revenues rose 11.8 percent – supported by 11 percent in mobile, 10.2 percent in telemedia and 17.2 percent in digital TV. Airtel India’s mobile data revenue grew 70.4 percent to Rs 2,324 crore. Data usage per customer rose 41.2 percent and data customer base rose 30.3 percent in Q4.

Data ARPU of Airtel India has increased by Rs 43 to Rs 176 in Q4 FY 2015. Airtel said its mobile data revenues contribute to 17.6 percent of mobile India revenues against 11.5 percent in Q4 FY 2014.

Airtel said its Africa revenues dipped 12.6 percent due to significant currency movements in last 12 months.

Data revenues of Airtel Africa grew 55.4 percent to $ 115 million – powered by 36.2 percent increase in data customer base and 34.5 percent increase in usage per customer. Airtel Africa said data revenues contribute to 11.5 percent of against 7.7 percent.
Airtel noted that the improved operational efficiency has resulted 30.5 percent increase in the consolidated net income to Rs 1,255 crore.

Airtel’s total revenues in fiscal 2015 increased 7.3 percent to Rs 92,039 crore — led by growth in India. Net Income for the year grew 86.9 percent to Rs 5,183 crore.

Airtel has consolidated net debt of $10,679 million as on March 31, 2015.
