Reliance Communications Q4 revenue shows challenges

Reliance Communications today announced revenue and profit for fourth quarter and fiscal 2015-16, indicating challenges for the mobile operator in the Indian telecom market.

Quarterly revenue of Reliance Communications fell to Rs 5,617 crore in Q4 fiscal 2015-16 from Rs 5,694 crore in Q4 2014-15.

Business man Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Communications said its annual revenue dropped to Rs 21,711 crore in fiscal 2016 from Rs 21,770 crore in the previous fiscal.

Profit of Reliance Communications was Rs 177 crore (Rs 171 crore) in Q4 and Rs 681 crore (Rs 714 crore) in fiscal 2015-16.

Reliance Communications generated Rs 5,227 crore revenue from India operations and Rs 1,242 crore from global business in Q4.

In fiscal 2016, Reliance Communications generated revenue of Rs 19,370 crore from India and Rs 4,527 crore from global operations.

The total data customer base of Reliance Communications has grown 15.4 percent year-on-year to 38.9 million, including 24.2 million 3G customers in Q4.

The total data traffic of Reliance Communications at 104.7 billion MB is up 20.1 percent year-on-year. “The traffic has increased due to increase in data subscribers and higher data usage per customer,” the statement added.
