Palo Alto Networks announced its association with Singtel to offer Managed Advanced Threat Prevention (ATP) services to secure organizations from sophisticated cyber threats.

The offering claims to be a unique managed security service using both Singtel Managed Security Service (MSS) and the technology of Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Security Platform.

Shielding from cyber threats will be achieved by monitoring, isolating and preventing any suspicious applications from breaching an organizational network or endpoint device.

The managed service claims to be equipped with ATP advance threat intelligence capability to provide organizations with insights on cyber threats, allowing them to take necessary security measures.

This will expand the Palo Alto Network existing activities with the managed security services business unit from Singtel titled Trustwave, claiming to bring next-generation managed security services to global multi-national businesses and government agencies.

The Singtel MSS claims to provide real-time, round-the-clock managed security service offering via the global network of eight Security Operations Centres (SOCs) by Singtel.

The SOC centers are connected to the Singtel Global Threat Intelligence, for continuous information updates from its Trustwave sensors, SpiderLabs malware research laboratory, and the networks of security intelligence partners of Singtel.

The service offers instant response in preventing cyber-attacks owing to the Singtel Global Threat Intelligence integration with Palo Alto Networks AutoFocus threat intelligence.

The Managed ATP operating on the Next-Generation Security Platform by Palo Alto Network comes with Next-Generation Firewall, Threat Intelligence Cloud and Advanced Endpoint Protection.

“Together with our Trustwave managed security service, the trained cyber security experts at our Advanced Security Operations Centre can forestall cyber-attacks and use the information of any neutralised malware to update our global threat intelligence to benefit other regions,” said Bill Chang, CEO, Group Enterprise at Singtel.

Alongside securing firms by allowing safe applications to pass through networks, cloud and endpoint devices, it blocks all known and unknown threats, and suspicious applications.

The Managed ATP service is delivered through Singapore Advanced Security Operations Centre (ASOC) by Singtel in Singapore. The service keeps an eye on advanced cyber threats globally to prevent organizations against sophisticated malicious cyber-attacks.

Optus, having recently launched a cloud marketplace aimed at offering services such as Office 365, SharePoint, and Norton internet security by Symantec to its Australian customers, has also expanded its managed security services portfolio by partnering with Palo Alto Networks.

Singtel cyber security expertise employs 2,000 security professionals worldwide, including the elite SpiderLabs cyber response team.

Singtel, with over 600 million mobile customers in 23 countries, posted 7.1 percent drop in revenue to SGD3.9 billion, owing to fall in mobile termination rates, device repayment plan credits in Australia and equipment sales in Singapore and Australia. The operator has slashed its expenses by almost 10 percent and has seen growth and earnings from many of its mobile units.
