Uninor revenue up 42% to $157 million in Q4 2014

Uninor, the telecom subsidiary of Telenor, has posted 42 percent increase in Q4 2014 revenue to NOK 1,187 million or $157 million.

The revenue growth in 2014 was 38 percent.

Uninor said it added 2.3 million subscribers in India in 2014.

Telenor will retain its Capex to sales ratio for 2015 in line with the investment in 2014.

Uninor said the average revenue per user (ARPU) for the company has increased by 6 percent — driven by higher usage of Internet services.

“Our Internet subscriber base has gone up by 106 percent in 2014 over the previous year. Revenue from Internet services has also doubled in the same period,” said Vivek Sood, CEO of Uninor.

In 2014, Uninor deployed an additional 5,000 telecom sites in its six circles. With the additional Capex, the network footprint of Uninor has gone up by around 30 percent. Uninor has more than 24,000 network sites.

Uninor has over 350,000 point of sales and around 1500 branded retail outlets.

In fourth quarter of 2014, Uninor added 2.3 million subscriptions – increasing 31 percent over the same quarter last year. The revenue increased 26 percent in Q4.

Uninor said 23 percent of its subscribers are actively using Internet.

Telenor revenues rose 5.3 percent to NOK 29.1 billion in Q4 2014.

In 2014, Telenor revenue rose 3 percent to NOK 106.5 billion.

“During 2014, we added 20 million new mobile subscribers, of which 7 million in the fourth quarter alone,”’ said Telenor Group President and CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas.

Telenor sold more than 1.5 million smartphones during the final quarter, stimulating mobile data growth.

“We are well positioned to monetize on this data surge, deliver healthy growth and profitability. The financial outlook for 2015 is mid-single digit organic revenue growth and an EBITDA margin in the range of 33-35 percent. Capex to sales ratio is expected to be in line with 2014, excluding the broadcasting satellite,” said Baksaas.
