Brazil mobile market to have 304 million users in 2018

The mobile market in Brazil will have more than 304 million active lines in 2018 from 283.2 million mobile lines in 2014, according Dataxis.

This figure will represent 80.3 percent of the total number of telecommunication accesses estimated for this year.

The contribution of mobile market to total telecommunication revenues will grow from 65.3 percent in 2014 to 67.4 percent in 2018.
Data revenues from fixed telephony and fixed broadband services will remain above $40 billion.

Vivo Telefonica led the market in terms of access volume.

TIM, a part of Telecom Italy, achieved the highest amount of revenues recorded during 2014, close to 33 percent of the total.

The fixed broadband sector will grow 25.5 percent to exceed 27 million accesses in 2018 compared to 2014. America Movil brand Net led the fixed broadband sector in 2014 with a market share close to 34 percent.
Brazilian operator Oi has more than 15 million fixed telephony customers in 2014.

The number of fixed lines will grow 5.9 percent to over 47 million in 2018 from 2014 — driven by VoIP services offered by cable operators in Brazil. VoIP/cable will represent 19.6 percent in 2018 against 14.7 percent of total fixed lines in 2014.
