Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia Networks retain LTE market share

Telecom equipment vendors Ericsson, Huawei and Nokia Networks have retained top three positions in the global LTE market share in 2014, said Dell’Oro Group.

The report did not share the specific market share of Ericsson, Huawei and Nokia Networks.

Huawei, ZTE and Nokia are the top TD-LTE RAN vendors based on 2014 revenues.

The Radio Access Network (RAN) infrastructure market advanced at a mid-single digit rate in 2014, recording a second consecutive year of growth, and the third strongest RAN infrastructure market on record.

“The transition from 3G to 4G in China and growth in European 4G investments offset the much anticipated decline in North America radio infrastructure investments in 2014,” said Stefan Pongratz, analyst with Dell’Oro Group.

4G rollouts in China were the primary drivers of growth for both the APAC region and TD-LTE in 2014.

TD-LTE accounted for approximately one-third of the combined FDD / TDD LTE market revenues in 2014, up significantly from 2013.

The RAN (2G / 3G / 4G macro & small cell) shares of Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent were impacted by the shift from North America to China. Both vendors lost single-digit percentage points of share in 2014.

After two years of growth, the total RAN market is expected to decline in 2015 as 4G growth in Europe will likely not be sufficient to offset near-term pressures in North America and stronger comps in APAC.
