The smartphone market share of Samsung increased to 23.3 percent from 22.7 percent.

Apple has marginally increased smartphone share to 12 percent from 11.7 percent.

The smartphone share of Huawei increased to 11.3 percent from 9.3 percent.

OPPO has enhanced its share in the global smartphone market to 8.1 percent from 6.6 percent.

Xiaomi also increased its share to 6.2 percent from 3.9 percent.
Top 5 smartphone companies Q2 2017Smartphone companies shipped 341.6 million smartphones worldwide in the second quarter of 2017. The drop in smartphone shipment was 1.3 percent from the same quarter a year ago and 0.8 percent from Q1 2017.

Samsung and Apple both held shares relatively constant from the second quarter a year ago, while the other three vendors rounding out the top 5 – Huawei, OPPO, and Xiaomi – all grew shares.

The one change in terms of ranking within the top 5 was Xiaomi slightly outpacing vivo, but not by much.

The smartphone market is a challenging segment for companies to maintain or grow share, especially as already low average selling prices declined by another 4.3 percent in 2016.

“The smaller, more localized vendors will struggle, especially as the leading volume drivers build out their portfolio into new markets and price segments,” said Ryan Reith, program vice president with IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Device Trackers.
