JDSU geolocation solution to support SoftBank Mobile

Test and measurement vendor JDSU today announced its deal with SoftBank Mobile to improve customer satisfaction by using location intelligence data from its network in Japan.

SoftBank Mobile will deploy JDSU’s ariesoGEO platform and GEOperformance application across its 3G and LTE networks in downtown Tokyo.

As part of the deal, SoftBank, which competes with NTT Docomo, will use ariesoGEO, a geolocation solution, for customer-centric radio access network planning, optimization and troubleshooting, to perform traffic analysis, site design, RAN optimization, new service and network planning, and customer troubleshooting.

JDSU’s ariesoGEO platform supports 2G, 3G and LTE radio access generations and will provide information in near real-time about the subscriber experience down to the individual subscriber level. SoftBank Mobile can focus on efficient segmentation like VIP customer groups, such as corporate accounts.

“Through our mentoring service, we will ensure that SoftBank Mobile is able to adopt new working practices, helping it to maximize the value of geolocated customer data and achieve expected business benefits quickly and seamlessly,” said Sue Spradley, senior vice president and general manager of JDSU’s Network and Service Enablement business segment.
