Keysight launches Option BHM for 89600 VSA software

Keysight Technologies has launched Option BHM for industry’s 89600 VSA software to support standard compliant downstream modulation analysis of Data Over Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS 3.1).

Option BHM provides decoding of physical layer link channel (PLC) information and measurements of modulation error ration (MER) and bit error rate (BER).

The Keysight measurement platforms N9040B UXA X-Series signal analyzer and the U5303A PCle 12-bit high speed digitizer offer bandwidth greater than 192MHz is supported by Option BHM.

The UXA provides the highest MER performance at all DOCSIS frequency bands over a wide power range and is s Keysight’s flagship signal analyzer.

The U5303A provides excellent MER and is a lower cost alternative.

“As the gold standard for demodulation and analysis today’s most complex signals, the 89600 VSA software is an indispensable tool for designers working on the forefront of cable technology,” said Satish Dhanasekaran, marketing manager of Keysight’s microwave and communications division.

Using the DOCSIS 3.1 option the 89600 VSA software provides post processing analysis of PLC-coded.

To measure MER and BER, the next codeword pointer (NCP) from acquired signals is extracted by the software and software then creates the necessary OFDM map and demodulates DOCSIS 3.1 signals.

The option BHF, custom OFDM modulation analysis can also be used to characterize MER in upstream or downstream signals.

The 89600 VSA software is a comprehensive set of tools for demodulation and vector signal analysis which enable the developers to explore virtually every facet of a signal and optimize their most advanced signals.

Option BHM, DOCSIS 3.1 modulation analysis is available for $10,000 and a typical configured price of $18,606.

Last year in June Keysight Technology, earlier Agilent technology, announced a portfolio of DOCSIS hardware and software test solutions for generating and analyzing signals up to a bandwidth of 192 MHz.
