NI reveals LabVIEW 2016 system design software

NI LabVIEW
NI has revealed the LabVIEW 2016 system design software which intends to ease development and software integration from the ecosystem into their systems.

The latest version of the software announced today comes with new channel wires for simplification of parallel sections code communication. It is available on both desktop and real-time versions of LabVIEW, aiding code readability and cutting down on development time.

“With channel wires, we can set up sophisticated software architectural patterns that natively have multiple sources, without having to create and maintain considerable amounts of custom software in the background,” said Christopher Relf, chief engineer, VI Engineering.

LabVIEW claims that the users have benefited from the openness the product and the ecosystem both, backed by the enhanced interoperability with Python and third-party devices. This feature alongside the new enhancements will aid to increase productivity by streamlining code development and deployment, claims the company.

The new channel wires reducing complex asynchronous communication to a single wire, additional RAM and memory with new 64-bit add-on support for the LabVIEW Control Design and Simulation Module, LabVIEW MathScript Real-Time Module, LabVIEW Unit Test Framework Toolkit, LabVIEW Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit and LabVIEW VI Analyzer Toolkit, and streamlining the automation of benchtop measurements with the Instrument Driver Network, which supports 500 new devices in addition to the existing 10,000 supported instruments are the features coming with the new software.

Also, Python IP can be integrated using the new Python Integration Toolkit for LabVIEW via an API from Enthought, Inc. enabling Python scripts integration into LabVIEW applications.

The software gels well with the latest NI hardware technologies for RF design and test, embedded control and monitoring, and engineering education, including the second-generation vector signal transceiver, NI PXIe-6570 digital pattern instrument, NI PXIe-4135 low-current source measure unit (SMU), Time-Sensitive Networking-enabled CompactRIO controllers and the NI Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite (NI ELVIS) RIO Control Module.

For users having an active service contract, an NI Software Technology Preview is also offered, which can offer an insight into the investments made by the group in the software sector related to user interface development, in-product learning and data analytics.

Today, Real-Time Innovations (RTI), also announced that the company will showcase live demos of the RTI DDS Toolkit for LabVIEW, alongside a session titled, “Applying IIoT to the Smart Grid.

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) connectivity platform company, will participate in the event to be held at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas from August 1 to August 4, 2016 in a step to enhance the strategic, symbiotic relationship in developing solutions for the Industrial Internet.

RTI will also preview the latest version of RTI Connext DDS Toolkit for LabVIEW offering support to meet stringent industrial and critical-infrastructure security requirements, equipped with DDS security support, and tested on Windows and NI Linux on x86 targets.
