EXFO CEO
Test and measurement and telecom analytics company EXFO has appointed Philippe Morin as the new CEO.

EXFO said Germain Lamonde, founder, chairman and CEO, will become EXFO’s executive chairman, to maintain leadership of the acquisition strategy and will actively involved in defining EXFOs’ growth initiatives, customer outreach and corporate governance.

“After founding EXFO in my apartment and serving as its CEO, I am proud of all we accomplished over nearly 32 years, taking the company from the concept level to global leader and helping the most advanced network operators worldwide implement their strategic transformations,” said Lamonde.

Philippe Morin became EXFO’s chief operating officer (COO) in November 2015, leading global sales, go-to-market and product management initiatives.

Before joining EXFO, Philippe Morin was senior vice-president of Worldwide Sales and Field Operations at Ciena, a telecom networking company. Philippe Morin also held senior management positions at Nortel Networks, including president of the Optical Networking Division.

EXFO said it is the market leader in portable optical and high-speed Ethernet testing as well as the technology leader in active service assurance. The company has more than 1,600 employees in 25 countries.

EXFO has more than 2,000 customers, including leading communications service providers, network equipment manufacturers and Web 2.0. companies, using EXFO’s test instruments and real-time 3D analytics solutions.

EXFO said its sales touched $60 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2017 as compared with $53.6 million in the second quarter of 2016 and $61.8 million in the first quarter of 2017. H1 sales rose 11.9 percent to $121.8 million.

Earlier at the Mobile World Congress 2017, EXFO announced the acquisition of Ontology Systems, a technology provider in real-time network topology discovery and service-chain mapping, for $7.6 million.

The acquisition will enable EXFO to significantly enhance its real-time monitoring of VoWiFi, OTT video and VoIP services over hybrid physical-virtual networks and strengthen its positioning in the strategic NFV/SDN, 5G and IoT markets.
