Jio, Vodafone, Airtel offer commission to subscribers for recharging others’ numbers

Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel have started ensuring sales revenue by offering commission to subscribers, who can recharge other people’s mobile phone numbers in the wake of coronavirus epidemic.

Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel have started offering commission to their mobile phone customers for assisting others to recharge their SIMs because most of the mobile re-charging stores are closed due to coronavirus epidemic.

Reliance Jio’s JioPOS Lite app, available on Google Play Store, allows Jio users to recharge prepaid phones of other Jio users and make money. The JioPOS app offers 4.16 percent commission to Jio’s Recharge Partners. The app also allows the user to check their earnings and their transactions in the last 20 days.

Vodafone Idea’s subscribers can recharge other people’s numbers using the My Vodafone and My Idea apps and earn a commission of up to 6 percent. Customers can make Rs 10 cash-back from a Rs 149 recharge and Rs 20 in commission from Rs 249 recharge.

Vodafone Idea says the amount will be credited to the subscriber’s account within 96 hours of making the recharge.

Airtel’s mobile phone subscribers need to register in order to recharge other people’s mobile phone numbers. Airtel is offering instant cash-back for mobile subscribers. Airtel is offering 4 percent commission to its mobile phone customers.

Emkay Global in a research report said average revenue per user (ARPU) of Indian telecoms is set to increase in the March quarter, helped by the tariff hike implemented by all telecom operators in the month of December last year.

Bharti Airtel is likely to report 17 percent sequential growth in wireless revenue, driven by an ARPU increase of 13 percent.

Vodafone Idea will achieve ARPU growth of 12 percent quarter-on-quarter due to the loss of subscribers.

Data volumes are expected to rise by 13 percent to 10 percent for Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, respectively. Data demand is expected to have surged during the days of lockdown in March, the report said.
