VEON CEO Jean-Yves Charlier has decided to resign from the telecom operator after spending three years at the top position.

Jean-Yves Charlier was instrumental in the transformation of VEON and the implementation of digital plans for the global telecom operator.

Amsterdam-headquartered VEON, which serves 240 million customers, also announced the appointment of Ursula Burns as executive chairman.

VEON will be looking for a new CEO.

Ursula Burns will continue her chairmanship while also assuming direct supervision of the company’s executive management team. Kjell Morten Johnsen, who will take on the role of interim chief operating officer, will be assisting her in overseeing VEON’s operations in its markets.

“Over the past three years, we have achieved a profound transformation of the Group and I am immensely proud of all that we have accomplished,” Jean-Yves Charlier said.
