4G services offered by Telenor in Kanpur

Telenor India has launched high-speed 4G affordable services for its customers in Kanpur, UP East region.

The announcement, which was a part of the network modernization program by Telenor, will offer subscribers with high-speed wireless mobile internet on advanced network architecture, in an attempt to cater to user demands.

Kanpur will be the third UP East region city where Telenor is offering 4G, following Varanasi & Lucknow.

Telenor, promoting its services with the tagline of “Sabse Sasta Sabke Liye – Full Paisa Vasool”, will now offer 1GB 4G Data for the first month and 500 MB data for next 2 months on first recharge of Rs 152 for new customers.

An added free Talk-Time of Rs 30 followed by a tariff of 25p/m for all local & STD Calls for 90 days, will also be available to the new users.

Also, existing customers can upgrade their current 2G SIM to 4G SIM free of cost to avail 1 GB free data, available at Telenor branded stores and selected retail outlets in Kanpur.

Telenor India customers can use 1GB data at Rs 52 for 28 days without any conditions, with the new offer.

Telenor claims to have launched 4G services successfully in Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Hajipur, Varanasi, Vizag, Amravati, Agra, Anand, Lucknow, Ranchi, Vijayawada, Tenali, Eluru, Bhimavaram, Dhanbad, Hazaribag, Dehradun, Guntur, Rajahmundry, Warangal, Kadapa, and Meerut.

The company claims to keep in line with its ambition of Internet for All and had announced the modernization of its entire network in the UP East in 2015.

74 percent of its sites have been modernized, as of now and the carrier is using latest technology equipment for improved voice and data leading in observations of reduced congestion and increased data throughput resulting in an improved network experience for its customers.

Till date, this is one of the biggest network modernization deal made by Telenor Group across its business units.

Earlier, the carrier was reported to be under plans to exit or sell out to another operator, owing to its poor market response in India, but is currently undergoing modernizing of its services.

Telenor has invested over $3 billion since 2008-09 in India, with over 8.3 million subscribers at present. Recently, Telenor also came up with a free life insurance, tagged Telenor Suraksha, under schemes of which a customer can get insured for up to Rs 50,000 without paying any premium.

Also, Telenor India earlier announced that it will roll out 4G services in six active circles completely by the end of March 2017 and has entered into collaboration with Huawei for INR 12.4 billion to modernize its 25,000 base stations.
