Bharti Airtel, the number one telecom operator, announced a major free offer to enhance its 4G subscriber base in India.
airtel-4g-in-madhya-pradeshAirtel is offering 30 GB of free data — 1 GB data every day for 30 days — when 2G or 3G customers upgrade to a 4G smartphone.

Airtel is offering 1 GB of free data every day for 30 days to pre-paid customers — over and above their recharged pack. Airtel is offering 30 GB of free data (with rollover) in their first bill cycle over and above their plan benefits to post-paid customers.

The strategy of Airtel is to attract 2G and 3G customers to its 4G network, which is rapidly growing in terms of coverage.

The free offer assumes significance because customers with Aircel and other rival networks are looking for better quality networks in India. OpenSignal has rated Bharti Airtel as the best mobile data network in India.

Airtel is India’s largest telecom operator in terms of subscribers and revenue. The telecom operator did not give up its position till now despite competition including free offers from its rivals.

Shifting to a 4G network with a cost effective smartphone will add more value to Indian phone users because of the quality of the 4G network offered by Airtel. Accessing video and other digital content on social media channels is more seamless on a 4G network.

Vani Venkatesh, CMO, Bharti Airtel said: “For millions of customers with feature phones/3G devices the upgrade to a 4G smartphone is a big decision and a long term investment. This is one of the largest customer rewarding programs and with this initiative our customers shall get an opportunity to experience the online world at 4G speeds.”

Earlier, Airtel announced Mera Pehla Smartphone initiative — partnering with mobile handset manufacturers to sell affordable 4G smartphones with cost effective data plans.

Airtel has tied up with Samsung, Intex, Karbonn, Lava, Celkon, Motorola, Lenovo, Nokia, Itel, Zen, Karbonn and Lephone to bring out cost effective smartphones for attracting users to its 4G network.

All these smartphones come with cash back benefits and special bundled plans with data and unlimited calling.

India’s one billion plus phone customers can check the eligibility and claim the free data benefits by calling the toll free number 51111 or on My Airtel App. Airtel will provision the 30 GB free data benefit within 24 hours of making the claim.
