HP to strengthen LTE focus by enhancing actionable customer intelligence portfolio

By Telecom Lead Team: HP is strengthening its presence in
LTE market by introducing new solutions that enable mobile operators to offer
personalized mobile experience.

HP HSS version 5.1 includes new features that are
designed to help mobile service provider address three key challenges.

Recently, HP announced that Hutchison 3G Austria deployed
HP Home Subscriber Server as the core of a new LTE network that will bring
faster speeds and better mobile internet experience to 1.2 million customers.

HP HSS and HP HLR are deployed at more than 40 service
providers worldwide. As the master database of all of H3G Austria’s LTE users,
it will help the CSP manage network usage by controlling access, authentication
and authorization for every user on the network.

As part of strengthening LTE business, HP expanded the HP
Actionable Customer Intelligence portfolio with two key offerings designed for
communications service providers (CSPs):

* The HP Home Subscriber Server (HSS) solution, which
supports multiple networks, is enhanced with mobility management features that
help CSPs migrate smoothly from 2G/3G networks to LTE networks.

* The HP Subscriber, Network and Application Policy
(SNAP) management solution now integrates real-time charging (billing) so CSPs
can apply business rules that allow personalized services and offers to
customers.

“LTE is both a challenge and an opportunity for
CSPs, as it levels the playing field for intense ‘co-opetition’ and opens the
door to new revenues. HP is helping CSPs use their unique assets to forge
personalized, loyal customer relationships that can lead to entirely new
revenue streams,” said David Sliter, vice president and general manager,
Communications and Media Solutions, HP Enterprise Services.

With LTE networks, policy management is evolving toward
quality of experience, providing users with real-time, personalized services
and offers.

HP SNAP combines policy and charging rules to create a
single, holistic view of rules that draws on data from diverse sources,
including the 3G and LTE network, billing systems, customer data stores and
application environments.

With the integrated, real-time HP SNAP platform, CSPs can
develop insightful policy and charging rules that enable personalized,
context-aware offerings for customers. Such offerings can include tiered
pricing plans, content packages, customized service bundles, and real-time
up-sell offers.

By providing customized services and offers, CSPs can
enhance the customer experience, increase loyalty, reduce churn and,
ultimately, generate more revenue.

In the CSP network, the HSS is the primary repository of
information on all customers, including personal profiles and the mobile
services they use. As the master database, it helps CSPs manage network access,
authentication and service delivery for millions of users.
