Hughes launches satellite broadband service plans for government market

Hughes Network Systems, a global provider of broadband
satellite solutions and services, and a leading provider of managed network and
application services, announced a new, cost-effective service package for the
government market — Connect & Express for Government — with plans that
enable government agencies and offices located in remote locations to
affordably purchase broadband Internet service.

“Many government offices located in remote and rural
areas have been struggling to leverage a 20th century telecommunications
infrastructure to manage 21st century applications,” said Tony Bardo,
assistant vice president for government solutions at Hughes.

“With Connect & Express for Government, these
remote offices only need a view of the southern sky — not a complex
infrastructure of wires and cables — to get cost-effective broadband Internet
service, so they can confidently run the high-bandwidth applications to help
them operate more efficiently and effectively,” Bardo added.

The Hughes Connect & Express
for Government plans range from only $59.99 per month for the Connect 100 plan
with download speeds of 1 Mbps, to $349.99 per month for the Express 500 plan
with download speeds of 5 Mbps.

Hughes Connect Service plans are best suited for small
offices with one to two users and teleworkers; Hughes Express Service Plans are
intended for medium and large size government offices with multiple users.

All Connect & Express for Government service plans
include commercial-grade equipment, installation by certified professionals,
and 24/7 U.S.-based technical support via the Hughes Customer Gateway, a
customer portal that provides real-time, online status reporting.
