Idea 4G network covers 37% of population in Karnataka

Idea Cellular today said its 4G network covers nearly 37 percent of the population in the Karnataka telecom circle.

Idea Cellular’s 4G coverage has reached 1,579 villages and towns across all 30 districts in Karnataka, one of the states in South India.

Idea Cellular’s 4G coverage is now available in key towns such as Bangalore, Hubli-Dharwad, Mysore, Mangalore, Belgaum, Davanagere, Tumkur, Hassan, Udupi-Manipal, Shimoga-Bhadravati, Bellary, Bijapur, Raichur, Bidar, Hospet, Gadag-Betigeri, Chitradurga, Kolar, Chikmagalur etc.

Idea Cellular, the third largest telecom operator in India, is making investment to expand its wireless broadband coverage in Karnataka.

“Our investment in building the most robust spectrum portfolio coupled with a vast network of cell sites across 2G, 3G and 4G technology has given us the confidence to seamlessly keep serving our customer base of over 94 lakhs,” said Siva Ganapathi, chief operating officer – Karnataka, Idea Cellular.

The company has invested in setting up network infrastructure and laying and maintaining optical fibre cable in the region. Idea plans to almost double its 4G sites by March 2017.

“With nearly 900 MHz of spectrum in both FDD and TDD bands, Idea Cellular is preparing to substantially enhance customer’s wireless data experience and capture a higher share of the mobile data business,” said Rajat Mukarji, chief corporate affairs officer of Idea Cellular.

Idea Cellular has over 690 exclusive Idea stores, servicing over 94 lakh subscribers through a network of 12,948 sites in Karnataka.
