Jio launches JioPhone with unlimited voice and data for two years

Reliance Jio Infocomm (Jio), a subsidiary of Reliance Industries (RIL), has launched a new JioPhone with unlimited voice calls and data of 2 GB per month for two years.
Jio for VoLTE serviceOffering unlimited voice calls and unlimited data means the handset does not require a recharge for two years.

Jio is also offering a JioPhone handset and 12 months of service at Rs 1,499, with unlimited voice calls (2 GB data every month), and does not require recharge for one year.

This is much less than the Rs 5,000 spend on other networks, the company said.

Existing JioPhone users can avail of 12 months of unlimited service at Rs 749 (with unlimited voice calls and data, and no recharge required for a year). JioPhone has more than 100 million users.

Reliance Jio, the # telecom operator in India, has launched the scheme to accelerate the 2G-mukt Bharat movement that would enable JioPhone services accessible to 300 million feature phone users in the country. Reliance Jio said that India still has 300 million mobile subscribers trapped in the 2G era.

Indian phone consumers are expecting challenging offers from Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) to retain their mobile subscribers.
