Reliance Jio is said to have achieved the 100 million subscribers mark – well ahead of the target of March 31, 2017. Reliance Jio started offering free video, voice, data and roaming services on its all-India 4G network from September 2016.

Jio achieves 100 million 4G subscribers

Mukesh Ambani in a live program said that Reliance Jio has achieved the 100 million 4G subscriber mark in India in 170 days. With this, Jio has become the first Indian telecom operator to add 100 million mobile Internet users on 4G network in the country.

For comparison, China Mobile has achieved 535 million 4G users in 2016. Indian telecom operator Bharti Airtel, which started 4G operations in 2012, is yet to achieve 100 million users from its 4G business. Both Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have all-India operations to offer 4G. The only difference: Reliance Jio is offering a free service as part of the promotion offer.

India is the number one country in the world for mobile Internet usage.

Jio customers use as mobile Internet as 50 percent of China’s mobile Internet use and almost America’s mobile data consumption.

Jio customers use 5.5 crore hours of video per day.

“We improve our network to meet demand of mobile customers. We have been building 4G network for the past 6 years,” Mukesh Ambani said.

We have 2x 4G base stations as compared with all rival operators in India. “We will more than double data capacity in coming months. Jio network will be present in all towns and cities and cover 99 percent of India population,” Mukesh Ambani said.

Several lakh of Jio customers are using MNP (mobile number portability) for switching off their present mobile users.

Jio will continue to offer free voice services and roaming services from 1 April 2017. Jio will announce new tariff plans on 1 April 2017.

“We will offer 20 percent more data as compared with our rivals at any point of time to address consumer demands,” Mukesh Ambani said.

Jio’s existing customers get more

Mukesh Ambani announced Prime membership program for a life time price of Rs 99. Mukesh Ambani said the enrollment for prime membership will start from March 1 to 31. Jio’s prime members will get value plans for Rs 303 for the next 12 months. Jio prime members will also get free news subscriptions for the next 12 months.
