Open Mobile picks Amdocs to launch new data services on LTE network

Telecom Lead America: Amdocs announced Open Mobile, a
mobile service provider in Puerto Rico, has deployed the Amdocs LTE Control System
for its LTE network.

The association with Amdocs will enable the mobile
operator to launch new revenue-generating data services. Open Mobile worked
with Amdocs to deploy the LTE solution in less than six months after the
original project was announced in October 2011.

The Amdocs LTE Control System is delivered as a
pre-integrated hardware and software solution that bundles real-time policy
control with sophisticated subscriber, device, and service management
capabilities.

Amdocs claims that the solution provides Open Mobile with
the flexibility to launch new LTE data services such as volume-based packages
with pre-set quotas, real-time subscriber redirection to top-up service quotas,
and roaming controls to manage data usage and prevent mobile bill shock.

Open Mobile can improve subscriber transparency with
dynamic notifications when service quotas are reached.

“Beyond providing us with a significant
time-to-market advantage, it gives us the flexibility to offer innovative new
LTE services that leverage dynamic metering and control. Most importantly, our
customers can now enjoy an unparalleled LTE data experience,” said Edgar
Jaen, Open Mobile’s data services engineering director.

“Not only will Open Mobile be able to offer its
customers a rich set of data service plans, but the comprehensive service and
policy control capabilities of this LTE solution will allow them to monetize
these services quickly,” said Rebecca Prudhomme, Amdocs vice president for
product and solutions marketing.

Open Mobile has been a customer of Bridgewater Systems
(now Amdocs) since 2007 and has deployed the full Amdocs network control
portfolio to support its 2G, 3G and now 4G LTE customers.

Open Mobile, established in 2007, owns 18 stores, 3
kiosks, a distribution chain of dealers and 196 points of sales.
