STC and Alcatel-Lucent deploy LTE to increase mobile broadband quality and speed in Saudi Arabia

Alcatel-Lucent announced that it has been selected by
Saudi Telecom Company (STC), a service provider in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,
to launch the first 4G LTE wireless network in the country.

 

Alcatel-Lucent’s 4G LTE solution will help STC provide its mobile broadband subscribers access to a
huge number of data applications on their smart phones, tablets and
laptops. The 4G LTE adoption will increase speeds and quality of the
download and transfer of high definition video and real-time gaming, on the
move.

With this deployment STC will be the first in the region
to launch major commercial LTE services to cover 11 key cities in Saudi Arabia
as first phase to provide mobile broadband services using 4G LTE
technology.

 

Alcatel-Lucent will support STC’s LTE
network deployment in the Northern Region of the Kingdom. Alcatel-Lucent,
through the ngConnect Program, is helping STC build an ecosystem of leading
companies to provide content, applications and innovative services to meet
needs of subscribers in Saudi Arabia. The company will also provide managed
services of all sites Alcatel-Lucent will deploy.

Recently, Alcatel-Lucent announced that it is assisting
Asia Pacific Telecom Co (APT), a fixed, mobile and Internet service provider in
Taiwan, to expand its delivery of 3G services and meet customers’ growing
demand for video, Internet and data services on-the-move.
