UTStarcom successfully deploys BSNL FTTH project

UTStarcom announced that it has provided the Gigabit and Ethernet Passive Optical Network (GEPON) products to support Bharat Sanchar Nigam on its fibre to home (FTTH) service which was launched in India on 23rd July 2011.

BSNL has already installed FTTH systems in nearly 134 cities across India to provide high speed Data, Video, Voice, Cable TV services to its FTTH customers. BSNL hopes to have around 6 million customers by the year 2015.

The FTTH service works with the help of a ring-based optical fibre network that ensures high speed connectivity. FTTH broadband service can provide a downlink of 2.56 Gbps and uplink speed of 1.25Gbps. It relies on the Self-Healing Network to provide seamless triple play service. 

UTStarcom has been a leading supplier of broadband technology to BSNL. It has supplied and integrated Multi Play Broadband networks to provide triple play services. FTTH based broadband network is an extension of broadband services.
