Airtel India Capex reaches Rs 5,288 crore as it aims 5G leadership

Airtel, a leading telecom operator in India, said its India Capex for the April-June quarter was Rs 5,288 crore.

Airtel India has rolled out ~8,000 telecom towers in the quarter to augment coverage and provide differentiated network experience.

Airtel India has undertaken several initiatives to improve mobile network quality – leveraging digital tools / probes to monitor and improve customer experience and scaling up the Vo-Wi-Fi adoption to improve indoor experience. Airtel India has ~44 million customers using Vo-Wi-Fi services.

Airtel India has a customer base of ~ 362 million. Airtel India revenue surged 23.8 percent to Rs 23,319 crore.

Airtel India’s mobile revenues grew 27.4 percent due to an ARPU of Rs 183 (less than 3 USD) and addition of 20.8 4G customers during the quarter.

Airtel India reported average data usage per mobile data customer at 19.5 GBs/month and voice usage per customer at 1,104 minutes /month.

Airtel India has a customer base of over 185 million across digital assets – Thanks, Xstream and Wynk. Airtel Xstream has achieved 2 million paid subscriber milestone and is now India’s fastest growing OTT aggregator platform.

There are over 1.2 million retailers transacting and making payments every day on Mitra App. Airtel Payments Bank has a customer base of 139 million and highly engaged Monthly Transacting Users (MTU) base of over 44 million.

Airtel India CEO Gopal Vittal said: “EBITDA margins are now at 50.6 percent. Our enterprise and homes business has strong momentum and delivered strong double digit growth, improving the diversity of the overall portfolio.”

Africa Africa’s Capex spend for the quarter was Rs 1,088 crore. Africa Africa has a customer base of 131.6 million during April-June 2022.

Total Capex of Airtel was Rs 6,398 crore. Customer base stands at ~497 million across 16 countries.  Bharti Airtel reported revenues of Rs 32,805 crore (+22.2 percent), EBITDA of Rs 16,604 crore (+25.9 percent) with EBITDA margin of 50.6 percent.
