CA Technologies and Verizon Partner to Offer Enterprise-Class Cloud Hosting Service

CA Technologies and Verizon have announced that CA Technologies will offer its IT management software through Verizon’s flagship cloud offering, Computing as a Service (CaaS). Initially, CA Technologies will host CA Clarity PPM, its leading project and portfolio
management solution, on Verizon CaaS.

Verizon CaaS provides a high-performance SAS 70 Type II-compliant environment in which CA Technologies can host its applications securely and reliably. This hosted software delivery option complements CA Technologies traditional on-premise software delivery and its growing on-demand, SaaS delivery model for CA Service Desk Manager On Demand and CA Clarity PPM On Demand.

The CA Technologies offering on our cloud infrastructure underscores the shift we are seeing toward cloud adoption. More and more companies are using cloud computing to fundamentally improve the way they do business,” said Kerry Bailey, Group President – Enterprise Cloud Strategy & Services, Verizon.

According to Adam Elster, GM, Services, Support and Education Sales, CA Technologies, Cloud computing is a core business for Verizon, and its reliability and security are strategic value-adds for customers. CA Technologies recognizes that there is a growing trend for customers to use our software in an on-demand, SaaS delivery model, but we also need to address the needs of customers who want the control theyget by owning the software license – without the burden and cost of managing the application and its infrastructure. Providing the option to host our software on Verizon’s cloud reinforces our commitment to helping customers achieve cost savings and agility no matter what delivery model they choose. In the future, we will consider hosting other software applications on Verizon’s cloud.”
In the Verizon cloud, CA Technologies customers will retain their licenses to the software. They will also be able to configure the solutions to their own needs or contract with CA Services to configure the solutions. Customers will benefit from the hosting expertise of CA Services, which will monitor and manage the application database and platform. Additionally, customers may be able to offload costs associated with running hardware, such as cooling and power, helping to save money and improve business agility.
