AtHoc, a provider of network-centric emergency mass
notification systems, announced that U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) has deployed
AtHoc IWSAlerts to serve as the network-centric alerting system for force
protection of U.S. military personnel in Africa and U.S. Africa Command staff
stationed in Europe.
AtHoc IWSAlerts is deployed on-site at AFRICOM headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, integrating and unifying existing disparate
mass notification capabilities and enabling the rapid notification to Internet
Protocol-connected devices worldwide.
AtHoc’s unified approach for mass
notification systems enables AFRICOM to send emergency notifications to all
networked computers, landline phones and mobile phones (telephone and text
messaging), and e-mail.
The AtHoc network-centric capability will provide
personnel accountability via real-time response tracking reports for a
command-wide view of the status and safety of all personnel during emergencies.
AtHoc’s unique capability to support many geographically
separated units from a single consolidated data center (including failover
capability at a remote data center) is key in this combatant command
responsible for a vast geographic area. The result is the most effective
enterprise-wide mass notification capability with the best cost-to-benefit
ratio.
AtHoc’s support for AFRICOM builds on the firm’s recent
global deployment for other major U.S. military commands. Today, the vast
majority of Department of Defense (DoD) organizations have standardized on
AtHoc IWSAlerts to fulfill their requirements for force protection, recall, critical
communication and personnel accountability.
