WiMAX South Asia 2012 will focus on opportunities,
challenges and strategies involved in operating a profitable WiMAX network in
South Asia.
As a pioneer for WiMAX technology in Pakistan, it is an
honor for Wateen to bring the first WiMAX South Asia conference to the country.
I would like to congratulate the WiMAX Forum on hosting this year’s summit in
Islamabad and providing an opportunity for telecom professionals to work
together and share experiences,” said Naeem Zamindar, CEO Wateen Telecom.
There are four major WiMAX operators in Pakistan.
According to Telecom Lead,
WiMAX accounts for 29 percent of the country’s broadband connections.
The event will have participation from operators
Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, etc. The goal of the event is for
attending operators to gain concrete knowledge that will help them build
profitable WiMAX businesses.
Pakistan is an important market for WiMAX. Hosting our
event in Islamabad will be excellent for the event, and wonderful for the
industry as a whole. We would like to thank the Pakistan Telecommunications
Authority and Wateen Telecom for their support in this endeavor,” said Declan
Byrne, president of the WiMAX Forum.
