Indian rural mobile users up 0.54% to 304.73 million in 2014 August

Indian mobile subscriber base in rural areas increased 0.54 percent in August 2014 to 304.73 million from July 2014.

Bharti Airtel is leading the Indian rural market in terms of mobile subscribers.

In August 2014, Bharti Airtel’s mobile subscribers in rural India have reached 97 million against Vodafone 90.83 million, Idea Cellular 77.27 million, Aircel 26.43 million and Telewings 12.88 million.

The net addition of rural mobile subscribers of Airtel was 0.6 million against Vodafone 0.21 million, Idea Cellular 0.4 million, Aircel 0.22 million and Telewings 0.20 million.

The rural v/s urban mobile subscriber mix of Airtel was 46:54, Vodafone 53:47, Idea Cellular 54:46, Aircel 35:65 and Uninor 32:68.

Rural mobile subscribers’ net additions in August 2014 were 1.63 million.

Rural and urban mobile ratio

Maximum rural mobile subscribers addition in the month of August was in West Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar with 0.41 million.

Uttar Pradesh East has the maximum number of rural mobile customers at 32.47 million.
