Polycom revenue up 4% at $379.3 million for Q2 FY12

Telecom Lead America: Polycom, a provider of open
standards-based unified communications (UC), has posted total revenues of
$379.3 million for the second-quarter of 2012, up 4 percent as compared to the
year earlier quarter.

The company’s total revenue consists of $20.8 million for
Enterprise Wireless Solutions (EWS) business.


Consolidated net revenues stood at $359 million, up 5
percent, as compared to $341 million for the second quarter of 2011.


Revenues from the product segment totaled for $272.2
million, down from $282.3 for the same quarter a year earlier.


By product line, inclusive of its service component,
revenues for UC Group Systems stood at $251.7 million, an increase of 7 percent
year-over-year. Revenues for UC Personal Devices recorded at $42.9 million, a
decrease of 3 percent year-over-year and revenues for UC Platform of $63.9
million, an increase of 6 percent year-over-year.


The services segment fetched $86.2 million revenue for Q2
FY12, as compared to $58.2 million for the year0earlier quarter.


The company has posted net income of $6.5 million for Q2
FY12, down from $28.5 million for the same quarter a year earlier.

 

Americas totaled for $177.7 million or 50 percent of the
total revenues with an increase of 3 percent year-over-year. 

 

Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) recorded 22 percent
of the total revenues, or$80.4 million, a decrease of 2 percent year-over-year.

 

Asia Pacific revenues increased 16 percent year-over-year
to $100.4 million and summed up at 28 percent of the total revenues.


During the quarter, Polycom announced a definitive
agreement to divest the EWS business to an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners,
Inc. The sale is expected to close within the third quarter of 2012.


Additionally, the company announced updates to Polycom
RealPresence Video Content Management solutions that deliver live video
streaming and video recordings on-demand through a Web portal to Android and
Apple devices.


During Q2 FY12, BT Conferencing selected the
Polycom RealPresence Platform to power its Video-as-a-Service (VaaS)
offering for Polycom deployments.


The company has recently entered into a U.S. and Canadian
distribution agreement with Avnet Technology Solutions, under which they will
resell Polycom RealPresence video and voice solutions.
